Jeremiah Stephenson is rapidly establishing himself as a organ recitalist and teacher on the international scene, with performance invitations across Europe, North America and Sweden. Recent and upcoming fixtures include recitals at Uppsala and Vasterås Cathedrals, Sées Cathedral (Normandy), the Church of the Advent Boston and Trinity Church Worcester (MA), ST Luke’s Episcopal Church (Texas), St Matthew Festival Anykščiai (Lithuania) as well as concerts across the UK in venues such as Westminster Abbey and Glasgow University Chapel. This year he will release his debut solo recording from Selby Abbey under their label.
Jeremiah’s playing has been broadcast on television and radio in the UK, France and the Czech Republic, where in 2016 he won first prize in the Petr Eben International Organ Competition. In addition to solo recitals he has collaborated with the BBC singers, prize-winning French choirs ‘In Dulci Jubilo’ and La Maîtrise de Toulouse, and the Orchestre du Capitole in Toulouse.
Jeremiah holds a degree in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge, graduating with a special prize recognising outstanding services to Queens’ College in his role at Organ Scholar. He returns regularly to the University to teach the current cohort of Scholars and is increasingly in demand for coaching diploma examination and competition entrants.
A prize winning graduate of the Masters programme at the Royal Academy of Music, Jeremiah continued his studies at Toulouse Conservatoire supported by the Nicholas Danby Trust. His teachers have included Gillian Weir, Susan Landale, Michel Bouvard and Philippe Lefebvre. Jeremiah recently graduated from the Certificate Programme in Injury Preventative Keyboard Technique at Salem College, studying piano literature and pedagogy with Barbara Lister-Sink, and incorporates this particular interest in the biomechanical fundamentals of technique into his performing and teaching practice.
Jeremiah combines his recital work with the posts of Associate Director of Music at All Saints Margaret Street and Organ Education Lead at St Paul’s Cathedral. As an award-winning Fellow of the Royal College of Organists, and one of their youngest Accredited Teachers, Jeremiah’s particular passion is introducing children to the organ and building with them an appreciation of the instrument’s diverse repertoire.
