There is Some Talent in Town

There is a wealth of talent and interesting pastimes hidden behind the doors of Beaminster and we have invited everyone to ‘show and tell’ what keeps them busy creatively, at a one-day Exhibition in the Public Hall.
Many people have taken up new hobbies during Covid lockdowns and there has recently been a plethora of arts and crafts courses in the locality. Here is an opportunity to show how creativity has flourished in recent times. Other folk have had long lasting hobbies or collections, and this is a great chance to share their enthusiasms.
There will, of course, be tea, coffee and delicious cakes with background music by amateur musicians. This is a wonderful way to meet your neighbours and be astounded at what an interesting community this is!
Songs and Scones
The Festival realises that not everyone is able or wants to go to the church for classical music concerts. We try to bring the festival to them by putting on entertainments which are more accessible.
Songs and Scones has been a favourite in past years especially, but not exclusively, for Seniors who may live alone or in sheltered housing or care homes. If you have a friend or neighbour who would benefit from a gentle afternoon out do please bring them along. This will take place at the Public Hall on Wednesday 21 June at 2.30pm and will be a singalong with John Follet, a lovely tenor singer from Bridport accompanied on the piano by his wife, Theresa. They’ll be performing all your favourite songs from the 50s and 60s.
Tickets £4 are available from Yarn Barton which includes a delicious cream tea, hosted by Jane and Ann.
