Pre-Coffee Concerts
Any performer needs an audience and we are pleased to give our local young people the chance to perform on stage with a friendly and encouraging audience. In past years we have been surprised and delighted at what they achieve.
So come early, from 10.30am, have a coffee and enjoy the Pre-Coffee Concerts showcasing a whole range of musical achievements by pupils from Mountjoy, St Mary’s Academy, Perrott Hill School and Beaminster School. The Pre-Coffee Concerts start at 10.45am with the main Coffee Concerts starting at 11.30am.
Concerts in Schools
The Festival arranges interactive concerts for six local primary schools and Beaminster School. We select musicians who will particularly strike a chord with youngsters and this year we are thrilled to invite both the Sacconi Quartet who will entertain the six local primary schools and Faith I Branko, the Serbian-Roma/gypsy/jazz 4 piece band who will play at Beaminster School. All these concerts are supported by the Cavatina Chamber Music Trust.
Free tickets for many concerts
We encourage our young performers to stay on for the Coffee Concerts and think that, for example, Beaminster School, and the Mountjoy students who help to steward the Friday Coffee Concert will love Faith I Branko, the Serb/Roma/gypsy jazz quartet.
The Festival subscribes to the Cavatina Trust which encourages young people to discover chamber music. In this case chamber music is defined as being music played by between two and nine instrumental players. All the concerts with the Cavatina logo are free to those aged 8-25 years.
Other events in the church are £2 for Students under 18, (apart from the Gala Concert, £5)
Talent in the Town
On 17 June there will be an exhibition of the town’s talents and interests in the Public Hall and it is hoped that some young musicians will add to the fun with their music.
